Let Us 'Toast' to Lowering Food Waste
How does wasted bread contribute to carbon dioxide emissions? The production of food is actually the biggest contributor to climate change through the production of gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. When we waste food, we ultimately waste the resources that have went in to making it, and unnecessarily contribute to the production of extra greenhouse gases. At Toast Ale, any barley and other by products that are not used for their Ale goes towards feeding farm animals, so no products are wasted. Money spent on their Ale also goes towards charities which specialise in tackling food waste! They are an example of how Britain could in fact lead the Green Revolution, with businesses creating funding opportunities for sustainable charities.
